Our MissionThe Yardley Research Group is deeply concerned with
long-standing national patterns in mathematics, science, engineering,
and—broadly speaking—cultural education. Relatively few
U.S. citizens are qualified for or interested in undertaking doctoral
study, and recent world events have had the effect of diminishing
participation from abroad—all to the detriment of the
world’s premiere system of higher education. It is conceivable
that within a generation, the United States will lack the technical and
scientific expertise required to support and sustain its position of
leadership in the world. It is also possible that it will lack the
cultural knowledge and experience necessary to behave morally,
responsibly, and sensitively in an interdependent global community.
In cooperation with some of the nation’s leading associations of educational professionals and with our institutional clients, the Yardley Research Group seeks to change the nature, extent, direction, and features of the national conversation on higher learning and its role in our national and international civic lives. |
